Electric Department

The Electric Department, headed by Public Works Supervisor Brian S. Pelkey is located at the Village garage at 1 Lily Avenue. Th Department consists of two Line Workers.  The Department shares the garage with the Public Works Department.

The Rouses Point Municipal Electric System was formed on February 1, 1903.  The Village Board are the officers of the System.  All energy sold is purchased from the New York Power Authority and the New York Municipal Power Agency.

Approximately 95% of the Village's electric utilites are underground.

  • SEAL AIR LEAKS - Air escapes from leaks all over the your home--hunt down and seal them using weather stripping and caulking to reduce your energy bills by as much as 20%
  • TURN DOWN THERMOSTAT - By turning your thermostat down to 68 degrees Fahrenheit, you can reap considerable savings.  For every degree you lower your heat in the 60 to 70 degree Fahrenheit range, you''ll save up to 5% on heating costs.
