Water Department

Public Water Supply ID# 0900223

The Water Department is headed by Chief Water Plant Operator Bryon A. Gelineault who has a Class IIA license.  Bryon has four licensed Water Plant Operators under his supervision.  The Water Department is the only Village department that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  All phone calls to the Village after business hours are answered by the Water Plant Operators in addition to doing their regular duties. Hydrant flushing, testing and valve maintenance are other duties performed by the operators.

The Water Treatment Plant was built in 1963.  Major upgrades to the water distribution system have been completed throughout the years.  A new 1.5 million gallon water tank was completed in December of 2003.  The tank provides additional chlorine contact time to meet Department of Health Standards.

The operation of the Water Treatment Plant meets State regulations and is monitored by the Clinton County Health Department.

The Water Department annually issues a Drinking Water Quality Report to comply with State regulations.  The purpose of the report is to raise public awareness of drinking water and the need to protect drinking water sources. Included in the report are details about where the Village water comes from; what it contains; and how it compares to State standards.
